Creators: Never Buy a Refundable Sample for a JoinBrands Job

For TikTok Shop reimbursement jobs, always buy the product as a regular purchase, and never keep a TikTok refund without returning the product.

🚫 For JoinBrands reimbursement jobs, always buy the product as a regular purchase, never as a TikTok Shop Refundable Sample. JoinBrands already reimburses you for the product when your job is completed. Getting a second refund from TikTok for the same product is not allowed.

⛔ Never request a refund from TikTok and keep the product. If you request a refund, you must return the product. Keeping both the product and a refund breaks our Terms of Service and can lead to job cancellation, account restriction or suspension, and forfeiture of pending or prior jobs.

❓ What is a Refundable Sample?

Refundable Samples is a TikTok Shop feature. You buy a product as a "refundable sample", and TikTok refunds you once your content reaches the seller's sales goal. On a JoinBrands reimbursement job, this means you would be paid back twice for the same product: once by JoinBrands and once by TikTok. That's why it's not allowed for JoinBrands jobs.

✅ How to buy correctly

  1. Before you pay on TikTok Shop, check how the order is being placed. TikTok may offer or pre-select the Refundable Sample option, both in the Creator Product Marketplace and at checkout.

  2. Make sure Refundable Sample is not selected, and buy the product as a regular purchase.

  3. After ordering, open the order details in TikTok and confirm it is not labelled as a refundable sample.

  4. Enter the correct order ID on your JoinBrands job.

💡 Tip: Use the TikTok account connected to your JoinBrands profile to place the order.

🛟 Ordered a refundable sample by accident?

It happens, and it's easy to fix if you act right away:

  1. Tell the brand in the job chat and contact our Brand & Creator Assistance Team with your job number and order ID.

  2. Return the product through TikTok Shop and wait for TikTok's refund.

  3. Buy the correct version of the product as a regular purchase.

  4. Update the order ID on your JoinBrands job with the new order.

⚠️ Do not keep the product after TikTok refunds you. A refund without a return is treated as a violation of our Terms of Service.

❌ If you cancel a job

If you cancel a reimbursement job after receiving the product, you won't be reimbursed by JoinBrands. Do not request a refund from TikTok unless you return the product.
