π What changed? Instead of typing in a PayPal email address, Creators and Brands now connect their PayPal account directly by clicking a Connect PayPal button β similar to signing in with Google or Instagram. This makes payouts more secure and helps prevent fraud.
This article walks you through connecting your PayPal account, what we verify when you connect, and how to fix the most common issues.
π₯ Who this is for
This applies to both Creators and Brands who request payouts on JoinBrands.
π How to Connect Your PayPal Account
Creators:
Go to Settings β Payout method.
Click Connect PayPal.
Sign in to your PayPal account in the window that opens, and authorize JoinBrands to connect.
You'll be returned to JoinBrands once your account is linked. β
Brands:
Open your Wallet.
Click the three-dot menu (β―) next to Top up and Wire/ACH, then select Withdraw options.
Click Connect PayPal and sign in to authorize the connection.
π What We Verify
When you connect, we check a few things to keep payouts secure:
π One JoinBrands account per PayPal account. A single PayPal account can no longer be connected to multiple JoinBrands accounts. If you try to connect a PayPal account that's already linked elsewhere, the connection will fail.
π Address match. The country, state, and city on your connected PayPal account must match the address on your JoinBrands profile.
β PayPal "Verified" status. Your PayPal account needs to be in good standing with PayPal's standard Verified status.
π¦ Linked bank account. Your PayPal account must have an active bank account linked to it in order to receive payouts.
π οΈ Fix: "Address doesn't match" Error
If your PayPal account has an outdated address (for example, an old state from before you moved), the connection will fail with an address mismatch error.
To fix it:
Sign in to your PayPal account directly at paypal.com.
Update your address so the country, state, and city match what's on your JoinBrands profile.
Come back to JoinBrands and click Connect PayPal again.
π Tip: If you'd rather change your JoinBrands profile address than your PayPal one, make sure it still reflects where you actually live β we use it for shipping and verification.
π« Fix: "PayPal account already in use" Error
This means the PayPal account you're trying to connect is already linked to a different JoinBrands account. Each PayPal account can only be connected to one JoinBrands account at a time.
What to do:
If you have another JoinBrands account using this PayPal, you'll need to disconnect it there first β or use a different PayPal account here.
If you believe this is a mistake (for example, you don't recognize the other account), reach out to our Support Team so we can investigate.
π Changing the PayPal Account You Use
You can disconnect and reconnect a different PayPal account anytime from your Payout method page (Creators) or Withdraw options (Brands). Make sure any pending withdrawals are complete before switching, and remember that the address-match check still applies for Creators.
β FAQ
Why did you change this? Connecting PayPal directly (instead of just typing an email) makes it much harder for bad actors to misuse payout information, and it lets us verify ownership of the PayPal account. It's the same kind of secure connection you use when signing in with Google, Instagram, or other apps.
Do I still need to do anything if I already had a PayPal email on file? Yes β the next time you request a payout, you'll be prompted to connect your PayPal account using the new flow.
Is PayPal still the only payout option? Yes. PayPal is currently the only payout method available on JoinBrands.
How long do payouts take? PayPal payouts can take up to 7 business days to process, and times can vary from one payout to the next.
Do I need to have an active bank account linked to my PayPal? Yes, it is required to have an active bank account linked to your PayPal.
π¬ Still stuck?
If you've tried the steps above and still can't connect your PayPal account, reach out to our Support Team β share the email address on your JoinBrands account and a description of the error message you're seeing, and we'll help you sort it out.
