Have you ever noticed that your selfies look a little different than what you see in the mirror? That's because most phones save photos taken with the front camera as they appear in the preview.

But don't worry, it's an easy fix! All you need to do is prevent your phone from flipping your pictures. This way, your selfies will look just like what you see in the mirror. Let's get started!

Android Settings

Did you know that your Android phone has the ability to change the way it saves your selfies? It's true! You can find this option in the settings menu. Some phones even give you the choice to save your selfies flipped or not right when you take them. Let's walk through how to do it:

  1. First, open the Camera app on your phone and look for the settings icon.

  2. Once you're in the settings, scroll through the options until you see something like "Mirrored photos" or "Pictures as previewed." It's that easy! Now you can take selfies that look just the way you want them to.

⚠️ Important: This only applies to photos captured after you’ve changed the setting, as all previous images have already been saved.

Changing a mirrored image to a normal view is easy! You can do it using the built-in photo viewer on your device. Simply edit the photo and then click on the icon with the two arrows pointing to each other. You'll see your image flip back to a normal orientation.

iPhone Settings

Here’s how to prevent selfies or videos taken using the front camera from flipping permanently on your iPhone with the phone settings:

Note: Your phone needs to have at least iOS 14 or later versions to see this option.

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Scroll down, and then tap on Camera.

  3. Here, you will see the option Mirror Front Camera.

  4. Toggle it "on".

  5. Now, when you take a selfie, the front-facing camera will stop flipping or mirroring your selfies.

  1. Inside the Photos app, go to the selfie you want to change.

  2. There, tap Edit.

  3. Now, tap on the Rotate button on the lower section of the screen.
