JoinBrands MCP Server: Connect Your Account to Claude & Other AI Tools

A way for brands to interact with JoinBrands through Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app), Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code & more. 🤖

The JoinBrands MCP Server lets brands interact with JoinBrands directly from Claude (claude.ai on the web and the desktop app), Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, and other AI tools that support MCP. 🤖✨

By connecting your JoinBrands account to your favorite AI tool, you can automate parts of your workflow and access key parts of the platform without ever leaving your editor or chat window.

💡 What Is the MCP Server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI tools securely connect to external platforms. With the JoinBrands MCP, your AI tool of choice can read information from your JoinBrands account and take certain actions on it for you.

The MCP can read:

  • Campaigns: Review the campaigns associated with your account.

  • Jobs: Pull up the jobs running under each of your campaigns.

  • Job Content: Access the creator-submitted content tied to your jobs, including content waiting for your review.

  • Creators and applications: Look up creators and the applications to your campaigns.

  • Chat Messages: Read the conversations tied to your jobs and campaigns.

The MCP can also take actions on your account:

  • Invite creators to your campaigns.

  • Approve or deny creators who applied to your campaigns.

  • Accept or reject content that creators delivered.

⚠️ Important: Inviting or approving a creator through the MCP works exactly like doing it in your JoinBrands account, so it can charge your account. Only connect an AI tool you trust.

🛠️ How to Set It Up

There are two ways to connect. Pick whichever fits your tool best:

  • OAuth (recommended): Sign in with your JoinBrands account directly from your AI tool. The simplest option.

  • API Token: Generate a personal token and paste it into your tool’s config. Useful when OAuth isn’t supported.

Each API token grants access to your JoinBrands account. Please keep tokens private and don’t share them.

🔗 Option 1: Connect with OAuth

The MCP server URL is the same for every client:

https://api.joinbrands.com/mcp

When you sign in, JoinBrands shows a consent screen. It says: "By connecting an AI agent, you authorize it to act on your account, including inviting creators, accepting or rejecting applicants, and approving or rejecting delivered content. You are fully responsible for all actions it takes on your behalf." Approve it to finish connecting.

Pick your tool below and follow the steps.

Claude (claude.ai and Desktop App)

You can add the JoinBrands MCP as a custom connector in Claude on the web at claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app. The steps are the same for both:

  1. Open Claude settings, then go to Customize and Connectors.

  2. Choose Add custom connector and paste the MCP server URL: https://api.joinbrands.com/mcp

  3. Click Connect, sign in to JoinBrands and approve the consent screen.

Claude Code (CLI)

  1. Run this command in your terminal:

    claude mcp add --transport http joinbrands https://api.joinbrands.com/mcp

  2. Open Claude Code and run /mcp to complete sign-in.

Codex (CLI)

  1. Run in your terminal:

    codex mcp add joinbrands --url https://api.joinbrands.com/mcp

  2. Run the login command to complete OAuth:

    codex mcp login joinbrands

  3. Run codex mcp list to verify it was added.

Cursor (IDE)

  1. Add the following to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

  2. Restart Cursor.

  3. If prompted, complete OAuth for the JoinBrands MCP server.

VS Code (IDE)

  1. Create .vscode/mcp.json in your project:

  2. Open Copilot Chat in Agent mode and enable JoinBrands from tools.

Other MCP Clients

If you use a different MCP-compatible client:

  1. Choose HTTP or Streamable HTTP as the transport.

  2. Paste the MCP server URL (https://api.joinbrands.com/mcp) and complete the JoinBrands sign-in when prompted.

🔑 Option 2: Connect with an API Token

Prefer to skip OAuth, or using a client that doesn’t support it? You can authenticate with a personal API token instead.

Generate Your Token

  1. Go to Settings → AI integrations.

  2. Scroll down to the API tokens section and click Generate token.

  3. Copy the token and store it somewhere safe. You’ll paste it into your AI tool’s config below.

⚠️ Important: Treat your API token like a password. Anyone with this token can access your JoinBrands account through MCP and take actions on it.

Claude (Desktop App)

Edit your claude_desktop_config.json file and paste your token into the snippet below, then restart Claude Desktop:

Claude Code (CLI)

Add the JoinBrands MCP server from your terminal, passing the token as a header. Paste your token into the command before running it:

Codex (CLI)

Add the entry below to ~/.codex/config.toml. Paste your token into the snippet, then restart Codex to load the server:

Other MCP Clients

If your MCP client supports custom HTTP headers, point the client at the MCP server URL above and send the token as a Bearer header on every request:

📝 A Few Things to Keep in Mind

⚠️ You're responsible for what it does: The MCP can invite creators, approve or deny applicants, and accept or reject delivered content on your account. Inviting or approving a creator can charge your account, just like in the JoinBrands app. Only connect an AI tool you trust. Chat stays read-only: the MCP can read chat messages, but it cannot send, edit, delete or react to them.

📓 Lists: When you ask for a list (for example your campaigns or jobs), the MCP looks up one marketplace at a time and returns 10 rows by default. Need more? Just ask, and it can return up to 50 rows.

🔄 Already connected before? After some time, or after you change your password, your AI tool may ask you to approve the connection again. Just approve it. If it shows an error instead, remove the JoinBrands connector from your AI tool and add it again.
